Midlake Extend UK Tour
New British dates confirmed
American rockers Midlake have confirmed an extension to their upcoming British tour.
Jazz and rock are uneasy bedfellows. For every melting pot of genres that is 'Bitches Brew' that are a huge number of groups formed by music students who never quite manage to trim down their three hour long jams.
Hailing from Texas,Midlake are a rock group formed by jazz musicians. Taking their improvisatory sensibility into the rock realm the musicians were inspired by legendary African-American jazz heroes such as Herbie Hancock.
Moving towards a sound inspired by Radiohead and prog legends Jethro Tull, Midlake gradually evolved into a more streamlined, song based act.
Touring constantly, Midlake are a fixture on the American jam band circuit. Now more akin to Coldplay but with face melting solos, the group have taken time off to work on their next studio album.
'The Courage Of Others' is set to be released in February, with Midlake expected to break into the mainstream. A cult curiosity for some time, the Texan band have confirmed a number of UK tour dates.
Selling out almost instantly, the band have decided to extend their stay in Britain. The newly expanded dates include another London show, as Midlake struggle to cope with demand.

22 Newcastle The Cluny
23 Leicester The Musician
