Midlake have announced plans for a one off London show on October 23rd.
For most bands, losing their singer signals a downward spiral. However for Midlake, the departure of their frontman seems to have ignited furious sonic experimentation.
New album 'Antiphon' drops this year, and - if the band are to be believed - signals a profound shift in direction. "It’s always through the scope of Midlake," Eric Pulido insisted recently, "but on Antiphon we wanted to embrace the psychedelia, style and nuance you might hear in bands from yesteryear while also being aware of music influences present now. The result was less folk and more rock. Less nostalgic and more progressive. Now the sky’s the limit."
As a preview, the band have confirmed a one off London show on October 23rd. Taking place at the Islington Assembly Hall, tickets are on sale now.
