Michael Jackson Grammy Award

Children accept honorary Grammy

The children of Michael Jackson has accepted a special Grammy award on behalf of their father.

Michael Jackson's death has left a gaping hole in the music industry, but his passing affected his family greatest of all. Leaving behind three young children, his two eldest made a high profile public appearance at his memorial service last summer.

One of the most popular artists in history, Michael Jackson won a huge haul of Grammy awards in his lifetime. At the annual ceremony on Sunday night (January 31st) the singer was given an honorary lifetime achievement award.

In an unusual twist Michael Jackson's children approached the stage to collect the trophy. The move has caused some controversy with observers in the United States arguing that the children shouldn't be turned into public figures.

However Prince Michael and Paris Jackson gave an impressive performance, wearing arm bands in remembrance of their father. Children from Jackson's relationship with Debbie Rowe, the two eldest children spoke of their love for Michael Jackson.

Earlier a huge array of stars performed a version of 'Earth Song' - a track which flopped in his native United States.

Prince Michael claimed that his father's achievements made him "proud" while a clearly emotional Paris almost broke down.

A huge moment for two young children, many have argued that the speech could well act as therapy for the pair in attempting to cope with grief. However others have spoken of their dismay at the aura of 'Saint Michael' being allowed to continue.
