Street Scene line up confirmed

Grammy nominated whirlwind of pop M.I.A. is amongst the star acts confirmed for this summer's San Diego Street Scene festival.
M.I.A. seems to wreak havok wherever she goes. Even as a little known songwriter the Sri Lankan born star mixed her music with political statements, becoming well known for her outspoken statements.
As the singer's profile increased, so too did her activism. This year alone has seen M.I.A. perform at the Grammy awards, before giving birth shortly afterwards.
The world pop star has bounced back, however, with a stunning performance at Coachella that culminated in a huge stage invasion.
But M.I.A. has mixed all this with continuous political activism. The singer's father was a prominent Sri Lankan politician whose work with the Tamil Tigers forced the family to flee to Britain.
While not endorsing the Tigers, M.I.A. has continually criticised the Sri Lankan government, being named one of Time Magazine's most important people of the year. Even this didn't stop the singer, as she urged fellow nominee Oprah Winfrey to speak out on the plight of civilians in her homeland.
M.I.A. is due to headline at the 25th anniversary San Diego Street Scene festival. Taking place on August 28th and 29th, the event takes over the streets of downtown San Diego.
Joining M.I.A. on the bill are Black Eyed Peas, Modest Mouse and Jack White's new band The Dead Weather. Unveiled earlier this year, the band also include members of The Kills, The Greenhornes and Queens Of The Stone Age with their debut album due for release later in the year.
The Dead Weather have unveiled a number of live dates, some taking place in Europe over the summer. Yet festival appearances remain thin on the ground, making this performance all the more special.
Also due to perform at this year's event are the likes of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Devendra Banhart, Wavves, No Age, Holy Fuck and loads more.
With a raft of bands still to be announced, San Diego Street Scene appears to be a cut above the average summer festival. Taking place in an urban area, the event seems to be a wonderful exploration of modern American music.
San Diego Street Scene takes place between August 28th and 29th.
