Returning Brooklyn space cadets MGMT are to release a new mp3 as a free preview of their new album.

Releasing their debut album ‘Oracular Spectacular’ MGMT established themselves as chart busting electro rockers. Singles such as ‘Time To Pretend’ became festival anthems while Soulwax remixed ‘Kids’ into dancefloor abandon.

However beneath this was a deeply experimental band. Live, MGMT show space rock influences channelled through prime era Black Sabbath. Taking time off to record their second album, the Brooklyn space cadets recruited one time Spacemen 3 guitarist Sonic Boom.

Real name Jason Kember, the producer has helped MGMT piece together their new album ‘Congratulations’. One of the year’s most anticipated albums of the year, the band have now confirmed a special teaser.

The Brooklyn group are to release album highlight ‘Flash Delirium’ as a free mp3 via their official website. Available now, the track is a spiralling slice of psych rock with plenty of the band’s trademark synths.

Taken from the forthcoming album, ‘Flash Delirium’ is one of the most ambitious things MGMT have recorded. With material name-checking both Dan Treacy and Brian Eno, fans can expect something unusual.

‘Congratulations’ features a raft of guest appearances, with singer Andrew Wyngarden marvelling at the band’s luck. "We've been lucky enough to meet and work with some of our all-time musical heroes," he said. "It's so great to be around such amazing and unusual musical minds."

MGMT are to release ‘Congratulations’ on April 12th.
