'Congratulations' due for release

Returning Brooklyn space cadets MGMT have confirmed a lengthy UK tour for September.

MGMT arrived in an explosion of glitter, synths and catchy summer anthems. 'Time To Pretend' and 'Kids' dominated the festival season in 2008, with Soulwax remixing the latter track into dancefloor heaven.

Praised by critics debut album 'Oracular Spectacular' was an easy to swallow pop delight. Enter follow up 'Congratulations'...

Produced by space rock pioneer Sonic Boom the album is a dense and frequently bewildering affair. Indulging their love of psych rock MGMT have returned with something completely different from their debut.

Splitting fans and critics alike, the band even went as far as apologising for their comeback single claiming that it was a joke which went too far.

Fans can judge for themselves on the new British tour. MGMT are to visit Britain this September, with their tour taking some of the group's largest headline shows to date.

Finishing with a two night stint at London's Brixton Academy MGMT will initially only make tickets available to members of their fanclub. After a three day period tickets for the tour will go on sale from 9am on April 9th.

MGMT are to play the following dates:

16 Dublin Olympia
20 Glasgow Barrowlands
23 Birmingham O2 Academy
24 Bournemouth O2 Academy
26 Manchester Apollo
29 London O2 Academy Brixton
30 London O2 Academy Brixton
