Melissa Auf Der Maur Solo Album
Former Hole bassist returns
Former Hole bass player turned solo star Melissa Auf Der Maur has confirmed details of a new album.
Melissa Auf Der Maur entered the Hole universe in 1994, replacing the band's original bass player. Quickly establishing herself as a strong willed talent, she played a huge role in the band's subsequent success.
Giving the group genuine Riot Grrl credentials, Melissa Auf Der Maur left Hole in 1999 when her five year contract expire.
Since then the bass player has toured with The Smashing Pumpkins as well as recording her own material. Melissa Auf Der Maur was recently flung back into the news when Courtney Love revealed that her new album would be released under the name 'Hole'.
Furious, Auf Der Maur released a statement denying that Courtney Love had any right to use the name. The row is still simmering, with the former bass player now confirmed details of her own solo release.
Retreating to her studio, Melissa Auf Der Maur has crafted a hugely ambitious solo album. A concept record, the multi-faceted album will include a film by Tony Stone which has already debuted at Sundance.
The film has been added as an installation piece and contemporary interpretation to an international showcase of pre-Raphaelite painter, J.W. Waterhouse’s work at the Montreal Museum Of Fine Arts.
Meanwhile, Melissa Auf Der Maur will release her new album in April. Few details of the album have been released with full tracklisting and song information set to be confirmed soon.
