McCartney Website Hacked

User's details tracked

Sir Paul McCartney has fallen victim to cyber criminals who have hacked into his website over the weekend.

McCartney has been enjoying life recently, with a new partner and a very special performance in New York with former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr. The combined at Radio City Music Hall to play at a benefit concert for the David Lynch Foundation.

However soon after the show it seems that unscrupulous hackers forced their way into the musician's website. The page was infected by the LuckySpolit Toolkit on Saturday night (April 9th) leading to computer experts scrambling to solve the problem.

The Toolkit allows digital thieves to track the keystrokes of anyone using the site, and recognises when personal details are entered.

McCartney's website is protected by SafeScan and the company spotted the problem almost immediately. A spokesperson for the firm told British broadsheet The Independent that "they obviously chose that time because they knew the site would be busy."

“We've seen this before with Paris Hilton and it can cause all sorts of problems. One of our clients was actually using (McCartney's) site and reported it."

“Hackers like these do around one site a week and obviously the more high-profile it is, the better."

A representative from the McCartney camp confirmed that all problems with the site have been resolved, saying that "once we discovered what was going on, we sorted it out immediately."

There was better news for McCartney recently when it was confirmed that the Beatles back catalogue has been extensively remastered and will be re-issued later this year. Sound engineers in Abbey Road have spent four years working on the project, which will result in the group's recordings sounding better than ever before.

The Beatles back catalogue will be re-released in September.
