McCartney Defends Ringo
Over Autograph Stance
Sir Paul McCartney has defended his fellow surviving Beatle Ringo Starr from criticism after the drummer asked fans not to send him requests for autographs.
Ringo Starr posted a video message on his website in October telling fans to stop sending him memorabilia to be signed. Insisting he was too busy, Starr then stated that anything that arrived after October 20th would be "tossed" before repeating the mantra "Peace and Love, Peace and Love".
Starr's stance was widely criticized, but former bandmate McCartney has leapt to his defense telling reporters that “Ringo’s always been like that, God bless him. We love Ringo because he just says what he thinks. If he doesn’t want to sign anything anymore then he doesn’t have to".
“And yeah, he gets in trouble occasionally, but as anyone who has known Ringo as long as I have knows that’s what he’s like. I think it’s a good quality; it’s called honesty actually."
In other McCartney related news the Beatle has revealed that he is trying to lose weight, telling reporters that "I'm trying to lay off the
chocolates. I've got to stay in shape for the other half."
