Maximo Park On New Album

Paul Smith talks shop

Newcastle post punk types Maximo Park are set to release their third album later this year after competing a massive tour of the UK.

Maximo Park have been suspiciously quiet of late. Second album 'Our Earthly Pleasures' was released in 2007, and now the group seem set to release their new album later this year.

Singer Paul Smith issued a statement denying rumours the band had settled on a title for the new record. "All will be revealed soon regarding the tracklisting and album title" he said.

"Colin, our manager, told me that the strange beast known as the inter-web has been spreading Rollerdisco-related rumours vis a vis the album title. Well, let me tell you, the only Rumours I condone are those released by Fleetwood Mac, so get real rumour-mongers. I blame Wikipedia, the root of misinformation..."

Smith went on to thank fans for buying tickets to the group's upcoming May tour. "We've been away a while in 'pop' terms and I honestly didn't know how many people would still be interested!"

"We asked for the ticket prices to be kept down and we've tried to negotiate better booking fees with our promoters because ripping people off isn't our business. The excitement's building in the practice room and these songs were made to be played live and loud! So, all in all, it's a pleasure to be back. Fact."

Maximo Park will release their third album later this year.
