matter To Re-Open
Superclub bought over
Enormous London superclub matter is set to re-open in 2011 after being bought over.
Launched amid a ripple of applause from the UK dance scene, matter was the superclub to end all superclubs. Capable of housing 2600 people, superb sound and a body kinetic dancefloor added to its appeal.
Holding a series of massive events, matter struggled to find its feet in London's notoriously competitive clubland. Owned by Fabric, the club eventually went into receivership last year amid mounting debts.
A highly ambitious project, matter was dogged by problems to the Jubilee Line which often prevented fans from making the journey.
The financial problems endured by matter came as London's club scene entered a period of turbulence. Soon after, Fabric went into administration while Plastic People was forced to close temporarily due to noise laws.
Now Resident Advisor has broken the news that matter is set to re-open next year. The club has been bought over by AEG, who run the highly successful (and extremely close by) O2 Arena.
The club will now be entirely separate from Fabric, with AEG taking over the administration of matter.
Meanwhile, a post on Gumtree recently fuelled rumours of a massive New Year's Eve party. The message asked for bar, promotion and security staff for a one off event but it has since been removed.
matter is due to re-open early next year.
