Stephen Malkmus to kick off project

Matador Records are set to launch their new singles club 'Singles Going Home Alone' early next year.

Ah, the delights of the singles club. Seemingly every independent label worth their salt has run a monthly singles scheme, with fans paying up front and then getting all manner of rare material through their letter box.

Matador have decided kick off 2012 early by announcing news of a brand new venture. 'Singles Going Home Alone' will open next year, featuring a bi-monthly dose of vinyl containing rare and unreleased material.

The series opens with a tempting split seven from Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks and L.A. Guns. Indie don Malkmus is featured covering 'Wheels Of Fire' while L.A. Guns re-pay the favour by tackling 'Gorgeous George'.

Occupying two sides of wax, the limited edition single will be available next year. Looking ahead, Matador have confirmed releases from raucous hardcore types THE MEN, OBI IIIs and more through 2012.

Based in the Matador - New York office, the 'Singles Going Home Alone' scheme includes free shipping, a free Matador tote bag, a 10% discount on the Matador store all year long and a secret bonus item.

Priced at $45 and $55 for American and Canadian fans, European followers will need to stump up $70.
