Massive Attack Film Project
'Heligoland' to be re-worked
Bristol trip hop dons Massive Attack are to turn their album 'Heligoland' into a series of short films.
Massive Attack are back, and with renewed ambition. With 3D and Daddy G on speaking terms again, the Bristol dons have unleashed their spectacular new album 'Heligoland' featuring appearances from Damon Albarn, Guy Garvey and more.
Acclaimed by critics and fans alike, the new album marks the return of a seminal group. Continually challenging themselves, Massive Attack are now set to turn 'Heligoland' into a series of ambitious short films.
The Bristol group commissioned some of the most talented independent film directors around to choose a song from the album and produce a short film on their chosen subject to accompany it.
Totalling seven films in all, four are already complete. Some of the films have seen old collaborators return to the band. Baillie Walsh, who directed the stunning video for 'Unfinished Sympathy', has decided to rework 'Splitting The Atom'.
Renowned director Toby Dye has decided to take on 'Paradise Circus' and has delivered a typically enchanting short film. Photographer Ewan Spencer is best known for his work on the grime scene, but has turned director to craft a film devoted to the track 'Flat Of The Blade'.
Just to increase the ground breaking vibe a little more, Massive Attack are to broadcast the films on Twitter. Titled 'Tweatre' fans can assist in the the direction of the artwork and movement of the music and films.
