Marina & The Diamonds Cancel North American Tour
To work on new album
Marina & The Diamonds have cancelled a host of North American tour dates to focus on new material.
Marina & The Diamonds emerged last year with a sparkling pop debut. Singer Marina Diamandis has a unique voice, with her untrained vocals matched by material which recalls Kate Bush.
Out there pop, the band have enjoyed success beyond British shores. Marina & The Diamonds have a growing American following, with heavy touring helping to expose the band to Transatlantic audiences.
Set to travel out to the United States and Canada for a series of dates, the band have decided to pull the tour. Apologising to fans, Marina And The Diamonds revealed that they require time to work on new material.
Due to begin on January 21st, the dates have now been cancelled. In a statement a spokesperson for the singer said: "Don’t worry though, I’m sure all you American & Canadian Diamonds will be getting to see Marina next year at some point. She has been touring pretty much constantly for years now so deserves a little break to record her anticipated new album."
New album? Nice. Marina & The Diamonds have been on the road almost constantly, recently completing a batch of British dates. Presumably needing time in the studio, the band have not given any indication of when the material will be released.
Meanwhile, an official statement revealed that replacement dates could be announced soon. “We regret to inform that we have to cancel our January & February tour dates as our recording schedule has shifted, we will be looking to reschedule soon.”
