Marianne Faithfull has been forced to cancel a number of shows after breaking her back.
Marianne Faithfull has endured several bouts of ill health over the past few years. Diagnosed with hepatitis C, the singer also battled breast cancer two years ago before finding her way back to the stage.
Sadly, it seems the singer is set for another spell of recuperation. In a new posting, Marianne Faithfull has revealed that she broke a bone in her back while on holiday in the United States and that dates organised for the next few weeks would be postponed.
Stating she was "sad" at postponing the dates in Lebanon, Marianne Faithfull then said: "I broke my back in July and hoped and prayed I would be better enough to be able to do the performance on 17 August, although it's not very long, but my recovery was going well. Alas. I have never been to the Lebanon though I know it through books. It looks like one of the most beautiful places in the world."
Also ruling out a a tribute concert to Edith Piaf in New York, it is feared that the injury will now delay Marianne Faithfull's new album.
