Manics Member Officially Dead

Richey Edwards "Presumed Dead"

Former Manic Street Preachers guitarist and lyricist Richey Edwards has been declared “presumed dead” after going missing nearly 14 years ago.

The troubled icon’s car was discovered beside the Severn Bridge in February 1995, a renowned suicide spot. Edward’s family have searched for him ever since, with numerous reports emerging from South-East Asian locations such as Goa. Richey Edward’s body has never been found.

According to a statement released by the family, Edward’s status has now been officially changed to “presumed dead.” They added that it was a “hugely emotional” matter, and neither the family or the band will be commenting.

Since disappearing, Edward’s cult has shown no signs of fading away, and he remains a potent figure in British rock music. His lyrics formed part of the massively successful ‘Everything Must Go’ album, including the Top Ten single ‘Kevin Carter’.

As has been previously reported, Manic Street Preachers have already indicated their intention to record remaining un-used lyrics by Richey Edwards as part of a new album.
