Male Bonding Prepare Debut Album
British tour dates for May
Hotly tipped London noise pop outfit Male Bonding are set to release their debut album 'Nothing Hurts' on May 10th.
A new mood seems to be sweeping over London. After years of commercial guitar music, a handful of groups seem to be taking the word 'indie' as a genre rather than a genre rather than a marketing term.
Formed at a house party two years ago, Male Bonding have the volume of My Bloody Valentine and the melodies of The Pastels. Truly, it must have been a hell of a party.
Making a name for themselves on the capital's ever competitive music scene, Male Bonding have released a handful of singles. Out of step with the Doherty aligned London scene, the group found a spiritual home in the States.
Recording their debut album in New York, Male Bonding have been snapped up by Seattle powerhouse Sub Pop. The London trio never lose sight of their roots, however, with their music remaining deeply British.
“I don’t like long songs,” says guitarist and singer John Arthur Webb. “I lose interest when listening to them, and I lose interest when writing them. We always end up speeding things up without meaning to. Too much coffee.”
Citing everyone from Teenage Fanclub to punk groups as an influence, Male Bonding admit that they are a little schizophrenic. Kevin Hendrick explained: “All my favorite pop songs are ballads. There’s a hippie in me and it’s fighting with the inner punk.”
Male Bonding are due to release 'Nothing Hurts' on May 10th.
