Malcolm Middleton Plots ‘5:14…’ Re-Issue

Alongside a batch of tour dates...

Malcolm Middleton is set to re-issue his debut solo LP ‘5:14 Fluoxytine Seagull Alcohol John Nicotine’ in June.

Arab Strap was never some mutually exclusive thing. Both Malcolm Middleton and Aidan Moffat wrote solo material during the duration of the band, with the final years of Arab Strap finding both breaking out on their own.

For Malcolm Middleton, it took a battle with depression to focus his mind. Using the anti-depressants of the title, ‘5:14 Fluoxytine Seagull Alcohol John Nicotine’ evolved during the final weeks of 2001 and remains an incredibly personal document.

Constructed with help from Aidan Moffat, Jenny Reeves and Mogwai's own Barry Burns, the album left a lasting impression. Returning to the LP, it's touching how much Middleton reveals – no stone is left un-turned, even those which obviously bring him much pain and distress.

Shot through with his own brand of dark humour, ‘5:14 Fluoxytine Seagull Alcohol John Nicotine’ is set to be re-issued through Chemikal Underground this June.

To coincide, Malcolm Middleton is set to play a number of live shows.
