Madonna and Guy Ritchie's marriage has been beset with rumors, and new reports in the British press suggest that the couple may be about to announce their divorce.

The couple married in Skibo Castle, Scotland and have recently adopted a second child - however, according to reports the pair are to separate. Madonna is currently completing her massive 'Sticky And Sweet' world tour, with Ritchie apparently keen to get the divorce finalized as soon as possible.

According to British red top The Sun, a source close to the couple said “It’s very sad. They were a great couple and brilliant parents. They just couldn’t live together any more. Despite huge attempts to patch things up they both knew deep down that divorce was on the cards. It wasn’t a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’. They tried hard over the last few months but their arguments were getting out of control.”

The report goes on to suggest that the divorce will be made public before Christmas - around the time of what would be the couple's eight wedding anniversary.
