Macca Praises Grohl

Grammy performance a success

Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has praised Dave Grohl after the former Nirvana sticksman played in his band at the recent Grammy awards.

Despite being a dyed in the wool punk rocker (he actually has a Black Flag tattoo) Dave Grohl is also a Beatles fan. The Foo Fighters singer played in the band for the 'Backbeat' soundtrack, and has long spoken of his admiration for the group.

Grohl was picked to play behind McCartney when the singer performed a version of early Beatles rocker 'I Saw Her Standing There'.

McCartney explained to press after the show that "Dave originally played with us in Liverpool, where I did a concert last year, and he played alongside my drummer Abe (Laboriel), but Abe wasn't available for this -- he's in Japan with Mr. (Eric) Clapton. So we rang Dave up and said, 'Can you do it?' He said, 'Yeaaah!' So it was great."

According to the singer the musicians rehearsed many different songs, and McCartney tried to convince Grohl to play a secret show but to no avail.

Dave Grohl seems to be chalking off his heroes one by one, after being joined by members of Led Zeppelin at Wembley Arena.

He is a legend! I love Paul

He is a legend! I love Paul McCartney's duet "The Girl is Mine" in Michael Jackson's Thriller Album with the king of pop. It is a shame that they fell out after that.
