Loefah For Art Show
Dubstep guru gets cultural
One of dubstep's founding fathers Loefah is set to provide the soundtrack for an unusual new arts project.
This year has seen the dubstep scene expand in ways no one had thought we possible. Dense and forbidding, the bass led offshoot of garage seemed to be doomed to remain in perpetual twilight.
However a series of titanic shows, releases and remixes have seen dubstep make its first assault on the mainstream. Skream landed a track on the daytime playlist at Radio 1 while the likes of Joy Orbison, Joker and more have burst out of the dubstep ghetto.
One of the founding fathers of the scene, Loefah has not been left behind. A series of critical releases have seen the producer bring some bass heavy filth to the table, keeping ahead of young cats keen to grab his crown.
The producer is set to make an appearance at an exciting new London event. Hosted by the LAVA Collective a new event titled 'Cityscape' is set to blend the street art of Britain and the United States.
Headliners include Peru Ana Ana Peru, a Brooklyn based street art crew. The show will also feature pieces by prominent American street artists including Obey, Swoon, Skullphone and Neck Face, alongside the photography of New York Legend Ricky Powell.
Held in the Dray Walk Gallery next door to the Big Chill bar in London, the new exhibition opens with a bang - or should that be wobble - on November 5th. An aftershow party has been confirmed for the Princess Alice pub, with some top names confirmed.
Loefah will make an appearance, while fellow dubstep don Mala is also due to spin some plates. Entry is free but to make sure of your entry it's best to head to the opening night of the exhibition, and have your name put down.
The LAVA Collective open 'Cityscape' on November 5th.
