Recorded in the aftermath of a Coldplay show...

Almost unknown a year ago, SZA was picked to open for Coldplay on their recent North American tour.

Thrust into the limelight, the rising hip hop star left inspired to try something new. 'Moodring' is the result: strange, languid, futuristic pop music, it was seemingly written in the petrified aftermath of her stint with the stadium hogging Brits.

"I wrote ’Moodring’ the night I opened for Coldplay. I hadn’t slept in two and half days due to anxiety," she told Billboard. "After the show, I drank every bottle of champagne Chris Martin [and] the band gave us that night, with Thundercat and my band. Great fucking time."

As Stereogum point out, 'Moodring' is destined to appear on DJ Kitty Cash’s mixtape 'Love The Free II'.
