Listen: SBTRKT - Hold The Line

Part of a new series of instrumentals...

Ever mysterious, SBTRKT recently delivered a new track to Mary Anne Hobbs.

Attached to the instrumental was a short note, outlining his current plans. Seemingly, with his self-titled album still winning fans, the producer wishes to commence a new series of one off 12s in keeping with those early Ramp cuts.

First up: the note.

"These tracks will form a collection of vinyl 12"s before my next album and its singles, maybe a digital release, too. They'll be out in a couple of months. All instrumental stuff along the lines of the music I put out on Ramp or the early Young Turks releases."

Titled 'Hold The Line' the new track marries gloriously mechanical garage beats to fragrant synths which have a sharp, 8-bit edge to them. There's an underlying melancholy, too, with that oppressive bass ever present.
