Mogwai and Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat paired off for a special Record Store Day release - check out the results below.
So that's it over, then. Record Store Day, we mean. It comes but once a year, a blizzard of vinyl releases and in-store performances, before leaving as quickly as it arrives.
This year had the good fortune of falling on an especially warm weekend. In London, huge crowds descended on Berwick Street for a number of events with performers including Matthew E. White, Wire and Frank Turner.
Glasgow based imprint Rock Action were keen to get in on the action, preparing an extremely special seven inch single. Limited to 500 copies, the release saw Mogwai trade remixes with Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat.
Using his L. Pierre moniker, Aidan Moffat turned 'Special N' into a glorious, beautifully languid piece of music. Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite (under his Plasmatron persona) takes control of the flip, adding some home made electronics to 'The Copper Top'.
A curious juxtaposition, both sides are well worth hearing. Thankfully, Rock Action have placed the results online so everyone can peek at the results.
