Listen: Aidan Moffat x RM Hubbert – ‘Party On’

It's drawn from their new collaborative album...

Aidan Moffat and RM Hubbert have shared new song 'Party On'.

A noted guitarist and songwriter, RM Hubbert has frequently collaborated with Aidan Moffat, but last year the pair decided to knuckle down and complete a much-mooted full length album.

Out later this year, 'Here Lies The Body' arrives on May 11th, and it finds two idiosyncratic songwriting voices interweaving around one another.

New song 'Party On' is driven by that endlessly percussive beat, with Aidan's instantly recognisable delivery on top.

Reminiscent of early Arab Strap in its fusion of acoustic songwriting and lo-fi beats, 'Party On' is a warm, thrilling, and downright dirty offering. Aidan Moffat explains:

"'Party On' is the only song on the album that started with a beat. In an attempt to write at least one song that we could kind of dance to, I looped a samba sample, sent it over to Hubby, and he wrote the guitar part around it – and I gave it the extremely positive, but not entirely serious, working title of 'Party On'."

"When I started to write the words, though – about trying to jumpstart a rusty old sex machine on date night – the title seemed perfect: it says 'Let's just keep going, let's do something daft, and don't let time get the better of us. And, most importantly, let's have a meaningless, stress-free shag.'"

Paul Fegan and Julian Schwanitz steer the visuals, featuring two dancers locked in lustful combat.

'Here Lies The Body' will be released on May 11th.
