'Deep' is a word which every music fan seems to know and recognise, but few can define.
After all, does 'deep' apply to the tenacity of bass textures, or the scope of the arrangement?
However it is defined, Anjunadeep seem to have mastered it. The label are rightly lauded for their compilation series, a volume of mixes which specialises in exploring the outer fringes of modern electronic.
The latest instalment 'Anjunadeep 06' drops on September 8th, with James Grant and Jody Wisternoff stepping in on mix duties. Spread across two discs, it's a diverse, enthralling collection, one which spans genres, styles with near effortless grace.
As a preview, Clash is able to premiere some special. A renowned producer, Icelandic talent Ólafur Arnalds fuses glacial electronics with an appreciation for the wide sweep of an orchestra.
'Only The Winds' is a beautiful track in its own right, with Ryan Davis stepping in on remix duties. The results are extremely beautiful, with Davis teasing out the cinematic elements of Arnalds' work in favour of something which is vast, epic... deep.
