Sad news broke last night of the death of Les Paul, aged 94, the man credited with pioneering the electric guitar and multi track recording.
A musician himself, being no mean guitar player, he pretty much invented the solid bodied electric guitar and through ceaseless innovation pioneered multitrack recording. His signature guitar, the Les Paul, is an icon of modern Rock being the preferred instrument musicians such as Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend and Keith Richards.
Produced by Gibson Guitars, the Les Paul guitar, and it's variants, remain a suitable legacy to the man dubbed "Father of the Modern Electric Guitar".

Les Paul, born Lester Polfuss in Wisconsin, was a quick study on guitar, and was playing professionally while in high school. Dropping out at age 17, he played in radio bands and released albums, mostly jazz, eventually he created an electric guitar called the Log, and later received a prototype from the Gibson Guitar Company that was given his name.
