Leona Holds Off Kings Of Leon

Southern Royalty Fall Short

Southern indie megastars Kings Of Leon have just fallen short of capping a memorable year with a number one single, as Leona Lewis held off the challenge of the Kings' 'Use Somebody'.

Kings Of Leon released their massively successful album 'Only By The Night' earlier this year, which spawned the number one anthem 'Sex On Fire'. The band recently played a sold out arena tour, with even bigger dates announced for 2009.

'Use Somebody' was beaten by Leona Lewis' record breaking Snow Patrol cover 'Run' elsewhere in the chart The Killers remain in the top ten with 'Human' while the Christmas rush begins in earnest with Bandaged and their version of the song 'Little Drummer Boy'.

Over in the album charts a festive chill will be running down the spines of most music fans. Take That are at number one with their latest record 'The Circus' while other big hitters include The Killers, Kings Of Leon and Duffy.
