Lee Scratch Perry Predicts Credit Crunch
Exclusive: Reggae Legend On Crisis
Reggae legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry has astonishingly claimed to have predicted the recent financial crisis, pointing to his 1987 album 'Time Boom X De Devil Dead'.
The famous producer was recently interviewed for Clash Magazine, in which he discussed his career and how he manages to create such distinct and innovative music.
Perry claimed that "Music is a manifestation of your soul, people listen to your music and wonder where you are going. Where we are all going at the end of the world. I work with Adrian on ‘Time Boom X De Devil Dead’ and at the time I didn’t know something like that would be coming. All the troubles in the Bank Of England and all that has been in our music for a long time. It was prophesied."
The cover for 'Time Boom X De Devil Dead' does in fact feature a variety of London financial institutions collapsing. Of course, it may have been created in reference to the 1987 financial crash, but we won't let that stand in the way of a good conspiracy theory.
Perry also described his time with British punk legends The Clash. The producer worked with the band on a number of tracks, including the classic single 'Complete Control'. "I worked with The Clash. Good fun. It was good, they were listening and wanted to learn and I could teach them what they wanted to learn. They were happy working, they were all good boys."
The complete interview with Lee 'Scratch' Perry will appear in the next issue of Clash Magazine due to hit the news-stands in December.

Wow it is just genius. I
Wow it is just genius. I have listened this album of Lee Perry in the late nineties but I have really forgotten that he singed there about the financial crisis. There are some people in the world that actually feels the future. I don't know if Lee Perry is one of them but those songs did actually say something. Thanks for the really interesting post and I will be waiting for more nice ones from you in the nearest future.
Sincerely,
