LCD Soundsystem to retire?

Contradicting stories of the day! (2/2)

Word around the online campfire – don’t worry yourself about it, nothing’s too flammable – is that LCD Soundsystem, responsible for last year’s superb ‘Sound Of Silver’ LP, may well be ‘no more’.

That said, we're rather confused - HERE there's talk of a new album forthcoming. All very brain-scrambling. Anyway...

Speaking to the BBC’s digital station 6Music, the group’s live guitarist Al Doyle explained that LCD head-honcho James Murphy is considering retiring the moniker:

“I don’t think James is going to do any more under that name. I think he’d like to do something with the same personnel, possibly next year. We were thinking of doing something where we find a lot of the old disco singers in New York that still might be around from the ‘70s, and get them in as guest vocalists with LCD as a backing band… It’s just an idea. God knows if we’ll make it happen.”

All sounds a little Hercules to us – cool disco goes camp. Also doing the rumour rounds: Murphy has formed a ‘rock’ band with LCD colleague Pay Maloney and a couple of guys from the band Hockey Night. If and when we hear more, we might tell you about it.

If you’re lucky. Meantime, get all confused like Clash by reading Murphy say there WILL be another LCD album - click HERE.
