'Smoke Ring For My Halo'

Kurt Vile is set to release 'Smoke Ring For My Halo' through Matador Records on March 7th.
The past few years have seen a number of outsider talents gain renewed appreciation. Jay Reatard (rest his soul) enjoyed an excursion into the mainstream, while even Ariel Pink has earned critical acclaim.
Now it could be the turn of Kurt Vile to push into the popular consciousness. The Philadelphia born songwriter has absorbed tons of classic rock, releasing a slew of material on labels across the United States.
Eventually settling on Matador Records, Kurt Vile released his rightly acclaimed album 'Childish Prodigy' in 2009. Sounding like a kid with ADHD trapped in a room with Springsteen's back catalogue the album was a furious mixture of the possible and the implausible.
Recently releasing the 'Square Shells' EP Kurt Vile took a short songwriting break earlier this year. Locking himself away, the Philadelphia singer is now nearing the end of work on his fourth album.
Due to be titled 'Smoke Ring For My Halo' the record will be released through Matador on March 7th. Recorded by John Agnello the singer used various studios around the vicinity of New York.
Showcasing Kurt Vile's versatility the album shifts between styles with confident ease. Due to hit the shelves in March, the singer has uploaded a special one off preview as a taster for fans.
Taken from the new album, 'In My Time' is a typically fevered piece of classic rock put through the lo-fi wringer. Impossible to place yet difficult to shift from your mind, Kurt Vile has set down a marker for the new album.
