'Childish Prodigy' hits the UK

Cult troubadour Kurt Vile has confirmed details of a short trip to British shores this May.
Twisting his acoustic guitar into subtle new shapes, Kurt Vile's imaginative assault on American music has kept him firmly out the mainstream. However with the release of 'Childish Prodigy' in 2009 the singer seemed to capture something unique.
A distorted take on vintage Americana, the album saw Kurt Vile gain a renewed sense of confidence. Returning to the studio, work on a potential follow up album began in earnest last year.
'Smoke Ring For My Halo' is due to be released on May 7th, and was completed at the home studio of guitar don J Mascis. At times a deeply psychedelic experience, Kurt Vile is pushing his songwriting into ever more out there regions.
Recorded with John Agnello - whose credits include Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr. - the album features guest appearances from his touring band The Violator, who contain members of War On Drugs.
Currently playing shows in the United States, Kurt Vile is set to return to Europe later this Spring. Confirming details of a lengthy tour, the singer will hit the UK for just three shows in May.
Opening with a show in London on May 19th, Kurt Vile will play Corsica Studios. Later playing Liverpool's Kazimier venue the singer will complete the short British jaunt with a show at the Captain's Rest in Glasgow.
Elsewhere, the singer has also confirmed festival appearances at Roskilde and End Of The Road.
