Kooks Singer Joins New Band
Pritchard launches side project
Lead singer with The Kooks Luke Pritchard has revealed he is set to join French group The Do to record a series of covers.
The Kooks returned in 2008 with their new album 'Konk'. The follow up to the hugely successful 'Inside In / Inside Out', the album was recorded in Ray Davies' studio and features some of the band best songwriting to date.
Luke Pritchard is set to join French group The Do. It is not known is the resultant recordings will be released in the UK, but the band are expected to tackle psychedelic favourites as lesser known gems. Amongst the songs mooted is The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band's 'I Won't Hurt You'.
"I want to do it a bit like, trashy 'The Velvet Underground And Nico' kind of vibe," Pritchard told the NME. "We're going to try and get a vibe and get a sound in the room and not over-complicate things with the production."
He added: "We're just going to do covers. If we have time to write anything we might, but I don't think so. We'll just see how it goes. We'll probably release it a little bit more in France, white label."
Pritchard apparently met the group at a festival last year.
