Klaxons Album Postponed Until 2010

Search for producer continues

Rave revivalists Klaxons have been forced to postpone their album until 2010 as their struggle to complete new material continues.

Klaxons arrived amid a blaze of hype in 2007. Early singles such as 'Atlantis To Interzone' marked out a group of true originals, who wanted to blend the forward rush of the rave era with indie songcraft.

With outlandish outfits and bizarre interviews, the band soon became the most talked about group in Britain. Debut album 'Myths Of The Near Future' was a glittering release, dripping with new ideas and sensationally scooped the Mercury Music Prize.

The band followed this with a performance at the Brit Awards, before heading back into the recording studio. Working with Simian Mobile Disco producer James Ford Klaxons began writing strange new material which seemed to be pushing them in new directions.

However Klaxons' label certainly weren't happy. Warning the band about the potential commercial failure of the album, Klaxons reluctantly returned to the studio to begin work on a whole new batch of material.

In a new interview the group warn that their second album will not be released until 2010. “We’d really like to put out the first great record of the 2010s rather than the last great one of this decade. Now that’s become an aspiration and a goal,” Jamie Righton told BBC 6Music.

Klaxons began sessions with Tony Visconti, before returning to their trusted friend James Ford. However the group still do not have a producer to bring the songs all together, with a massive backlog of material.

“We’ve now got 28 songs and we’re just about to put it together as a complete record. We’re looking for a producer and if anyone out there makes records, give us a bell,” the singer said.

The band have promised to take things back to basics. “We’ve taken it to the next stage and it’s rawer and simpler and as we were at our best. We’ve stripped the complication and we’re back to being raucous".

Klaxons are due to release their new album 2010.
