Kings Of Leon Royalties Feud

Followills at odds over royalties

Southern indie rock royalty Kings Of Leon have been feuding over royalty payments, it has emerged.

Kings Of Leon are one of the biggest bands in Britain. Having built a rabid fan base with three spectacular albums the group released their latest album 'Only By The Night' last year, to enormous acclaim.

Racing up the charts the album spawned several hit singles and is still comfortably in the Top 20. Having spent an astonishing 55 weeks on the chart, 'Only By The Night' is one of the biggest albums of recent times.

Now beginning work on a follow up, it seems that their new found fame has led to divisions in Kings Of Leon. Speaking to British tabloid the Daily Star the band revealed they have been arguing over royalties.

Bass player Jared Followill told the newspaper "we started seriously writing the songs when we got back home from tour."

“I got a call from Caleb going: ‘I’m sitting here writing the next album by myself.’ And we’re like: ‘Oh no, you’re not.’ We ended up going to his house so that when the record comes out he can’t go: ‘Dude, I’m getting 70% of this shit.’”

Cousin Matthew Followill then told the newspaper: “We basically go to his house for the royalties.”

Jared Followill then finished by claiming that he finds it hard to like Kings Of Leon's own material sometimes. “Caleb was really weird when we started. Everything that I thought was quite charming about us, he wanted to lie about."

“For me it’s hard having an opinion on this band. If I wasn’t involved I can’t imagine liking us a lot, just because I only control 25% of it. In every song there’s something I wish I could change. Each one of us are like that, though."
