Members of Kings of Leon and Mona are teaming up on new collaboration Smoke & Jackal.

Kings of Leon and Mona have always been close. The pair share a home city - Nashville - and the Followills were quick to sing the praises of the newcomers.

Now it seems that a full blown collaboration has grown between them. Jared Followill (Kings of Leon) and Nick Brown (Mona) have formed Smoke & Jackal, with 'EP1' set to be released later this year.

Owing its gestation to a wine fuelled night in Nashville, the two songwriters set to work in Brown’s Nashville home studio. Improvising, throwing ideas at each other Smoke & Jackal wrote their first two songs in one evening.

“It was all about tone and vibe and what felt right in that moment,” Brown said recently. “Not second guessing, just having fun in that moment.”

Adding to this, Followill said: “Coming together just worked. I think it’s because we took such an easy approach to it, we didn’t bring any egos to it. We just talked about each other’s ideas, neither one of us got our feelings hurt. It just worked.”
