Killers Singer Anger Over Lyrics
Band Feel Mis-Interpreted
Returning indie icons The Killers have spoken of their anger at people who mock their lyrics, claiming they don't appreciate alternative interpretations of their work.
The band are preparing to release new album 'Day And Age' on November 24th, with comeback single 'Human' already available in the shops.
The chorus line to 'Human' has caused much debate. The lyrics run 'Are we human or are are we dancer?' but some have mis-interpreted the song as saying 'Are we human or are we denser?'.
In a new interview brandon Flowers says "that sucks a bit. I don’t like ‘are we denser?’ I really care what people think but people don’t seem to understand ‘Human’. “They think it’s nonsense, but I was aching over those lyrics for a very long time to get them right.”
The lyric was apparently inspired by a quote from legendary American gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson. Flowers added that a trip to Panama inspired some tracks on the album.
“They still have some indigenous people there and they live 90 per cent of the way they would have done hundreds of years ago. It’s the other 10 per cent that’s bizarre. There’s people living in huts but they have Doritos"
The Killers release 'Day And Age' on Monday (November 24th).
