Killers Confirm Eagles Cover

With Rhythms Del Mundo

Las Vegas indie titans The Killers are due to release a very special cover version of The Eagles' classic 'Hotel California'.

The Killers are fond of the odd cover version or two. Having previously played the Joy Division song 'Shadowplay' in concert the band then recorded it, becoming a fan's favourite in the process.

Gathering rare tracks onto the album 'Sawdust' the band saw fit to include a number of covers, as well as collaborations with artists such as Lou Reed.

Now The Killers are due to record a version of The Eagles classic song 'Hotel California'. Beloved by middle aged men and Radio 2 DJs the track is an evergreen classic, still sparking debate over the actual meaning of the lyrics.

The Las Vegas group gave the song a special cover alongside Afro-Cuban musicians Rhythms Del Mundo. Released as part of a new compilation album, all profits from the cover version are set to be donated to climate change charity Artists Project Earth.

Already available as part of the Rhythms Del Mundo 'Classics' album, the track sits alongside cover versions from the likes of Keane, Amy Winehouse, Editors and American emo rockers Fall Out Boy.

Due to be released as a single on November 30th, the new cover is set to be followed by the group's regular Christmas single. A devout Mormon, Brandon Flowers will lead The Killers in recording a new seasonal track.

The band do this every year, with 2008 boasting an effort aided by Neil Tennant and Elton John.
