Kendrick Lamar announces dates for a July UK tour - full details below.
After a string of sold-out dates in January earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar will return to the UK playing in Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. Hailed as the new face/voice of West Coast Rap, the 25 year-old from Compton took 2012 by storm after stepping into the spotlight to claim the biggest selling debut album (‘Good Kid, m.A.A.d City’) for any new artist in the US – selling over 240k copies in one week alone.
Recently, Lamar has performed on US shows including Jimmy Kimmel, Saturday Night Live and the Late Show with David Letterman marking the success of the debut album. Lamar has also garnered many admirers with Dr. Dre backing the debut album and collaborating with Jay-Z on ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe Remix’, it’s easy to see where this rapper’s career is heading.
Other collaborations this year include ‘How Many Drinks’ with Miguel, ‘Autumn Leaves’ with Chris Brown and a potential collaboration with UK’s own, James Blake. His continued success follows the re-release of the introspective lead single ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’ produced by T-Minus, out now through Top Dawg Entertainment/Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records.
Kendrick Lamar is set to play the following shows:
8 Birmingham O2 Academy Birmingham
9 Manchester O2 Manchester Apollo
10 Leeds O2 Academy Leeds
