Katy B’s Second Album ‘95%’ Complete

It's due this summer...

Katy B has revealed that work on her second album is '95% complete' with new material due to be released this summer.

Adding some irresistible pop flair to the dubstep template, Katy B's debut album became the first Rinse release to really smash into the charts. Boasting an all star line up of producers, 'On A Mission' matched club flavours against Katy B's star potential.

Working on a follow up, the singer has revealed that her second album is '95% complete'. Speaking to Billboard, Katy B said: “I’ve basically got some great tracks and I think I’ll just keep writing until the end. A lot of stuff is getting mixed and mastered at the moment, so you just never know when you can just write something special at the last minute.”

The material finds Katy B once again working with Rinse mainstay Geeneus. “There are quite a few (Geeneus) tracks on the album… He’s definitely a massive part of it… He’s kind of like my Timbaland to Missy Elliott.”

Diplo seemingly donates some beats to the new album, including one track which Katy B described as "melancholic". “I think actually that song Diplo did is my favorite lyrically, which is quite strange, because I think his beats are so unique and kind of danceable,” she said, “but this one is kind of slow and quite sullen. It’s very melancholic.”

The material seemingly finds Katy B growing up, reflecting on her success and blossoming maturity. “When I was 18 or 21, it was very much a feeling of freedom. ‘I’m free to be exactly who I am. And my parents aren’t telling me what time to come home at night!’ And I think this album is more focused on love and relationships and reality as well… having to think that you have to go throughout life, (and) sometimes you don’t realize you have to fight for your happiness.”

Katy B is expected to release her second album this summer. Check out her recent Mosca re-working 'What You Came For' below.
