Kasabian For One Big Weekend

Lily Allen, Franz for Radio 1 event

The line up for this year's spectacular One Big Weekend event has expanded with Kasabian, Lily Allen and more joining the bill.

One Big Weekend evolved out of Radio 1's much derided holiday specials. As the great John Peel used to recount, these were occasions when you could witness Tony Blackburn being chased by a creature from BBC studios. On water-skis.

However, now it's hip and trendy Radio 1 hosts the country's biggest free ticketed music festival. Now with over four stages, One Big Weekend is broadcast on the BBC and contains some of the biggest names in British music.

The event shifts from city to city each year, with this year the residents of Swindon being lucky enough to draw the short straw.

Joining the Swindonites at this year's bash are already announced headliners N-Dubz and Snow Patrol. New additions to the bill include Kasabian, whose third album 'West Rider Pauper Asylum' is ready and waiting for release.

Also on the line up are pop starlet Lily Allen and Scots indie gentry Franz Ferdinand. Further down the bill are this year's biggest indie success story White Lies, while Basement Jaxx will return after going on hiatus.

Other new acts include returning Midlands giants The Enemy, Friendly Fires, Jack Penate and Ladyhawke.

Of course, Kasabin and The Enemy will cross swords many more times over the course of the summer. The two indie acts will provide support on the massive stadium tour by Oasis, which will surely be one of the summer's most exciting live music events.

Wait a minute - that's what we said about Blur's reunion shows! There's only one way to settle this: FIGHT!

One Big Weekend takes place between May 9th - 10th in Swindon's Lydiard Park.
