Kanye West has landed himself in hot water, with a number of organisations protesting about lyrics on new album 'Yeezus'.
The return of Kanye West was never going to be without incident. The rapper's high profile means that his every word is dissected, a fact that - added to his predilection for gaining attention - is a sure fire way to gain controversy.
Released earlier this week, new album 'Yeezus' has gained warm reviews from music critics. However some are perturbed by elements of the lyrical content, especially the line "get this bitch shaking like Parkinson’s" in the track 'On Sight', which manages to be both misogynistic and make light of an incurable illness.
Steve Ford, Chief Executive at Parkinson’s UK, said: "Kanye West has shown an inexcusable level of stupidity and cruelty towards people living with an incurable condition. Life with Parkinson’s is difficult enough without becoming fodder for insensitive celebrities who should know better, looking for their next big hit."
"People with Parkinson’s have to cope with intolerable social discrimination on a daily basis – often to the point where they are afraid to go out in public – and this sort of thoughtless, callous comment can only serve to make things even worse for them."
Kanye West has yet to comment.
