Rap icon to headline

Kanye West is due to break cover and headline this summer's instalment of Norwegian festival Oya.
Held in one of the oldest parts of Olso, Oya has built up a reputation for grabbing some truly special performances. Organisers have been plotting their latest coup, which sees hip hop icon Kanye West appear at the event.
Releasing his ambitious album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' last year, Kanye West took virtually everyone by surprise. Laden down with collaborations, the record was a sprawling, epic triumph.
Rewarded with across the board praise, the album stands up after a six month gap. Kanye West shocked critics, who had written off the hip hop icon due to his personal troubles (and inability to stay out of award ceremonies).
Now the rapper is due to return to Europe. Kanye West has been confirmed as the headliner for this year's instalment of Oya, with the performance sure to be one of the weekend's main talking points.
With his spectacular visuals and overwhelming bravado Kanye West is a fantastic live act, capable of translating hip hop into a stadium medium.
Due to perform at Oya, Kanye West has joined other new additions including reformed desert rock outfit Kyuss Lives! and Lykke Li. Dubstep prodigy James Blake will perform live, while Jamie xx has confirmed plans to appear at the Norwegian event.
Elsewhere, Janelle Monae is set to perform at the festival. Mixing James Brown theatrics with sci-fi, the soulful singer released her acclaimed new album 'The ArchAndroid' last year to widespread acclaim.
Due to appear at the Norwegian event, Janelle Monae mixes elements of the past to craft something uniquely futuristic.
Tickets for Oya are on sale now.
Oya takes place between August 9th - 13th.
