Kaiser Chiefs Not Dropped
Reports false, they claim
Jaunty waistcoat wearing Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs have acted quickly to dispel rumours that they are to split.
Kaiser Chiefs are one of the biggest indie groups in the UK. Their mixture of happy go lucky guitar pop and acerbic lyrics have made the band heroes to thousands, with last year's third album 'Off With Their Heads' proving to be one of their most successful to date.
Of course, not everyone is a fan. Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is never one to sit on the fence, and slated the group in an interview. Kaiser Chiefs responded in kind, provoking a long running dispute between the two bands.
Lead singer Ricky Wilson recently declared the feud over, claiming he had no problems with the Manchester band. The band themselves were recently in action in the United States, where they were forced to play without keyboard player Peanut.
The musician injured himself in South America, and was forced to recuperate on the beaches of Rio while his band mates slogged around the United States.
However Kaiser Chiefs themselves have been dogged by rumours, following the group's announcement that they are to take a short break.
Press reports suggested that the group had been dropped from their label B-Unique. Some of their hugely popular peers have also parted company with their record label recently, with The Zutons and The Futureheads both finding themselves without a contract.
Speaking to the NME, a spokesperson confirmed that there is "no contractual change to report".
"The band has two records left to run on an existing contract," he said.
"Kaiser Chiefs will take their first break in six years at the end of the summer. As with many successful artists, the band is considering creative options to improve the way their music reaches people ahead of their forth album."
However one part of the reports does seem to be true. Guitarist Andrew White is due to become a father "any day now".
Kaiser Chiefs are due to take a six months break shortly.
