After recording in Hawaii

Bon Iver singer Justin Vernon has spoken about recording with Kanye West in Hawaii.
Recording his debut album in a remote cabin, Justin Vernon isn't used to the high life. Sure, Bon Iver has enjoyed massive success but this has tended to be measured in critical saliva rather than dollar signs.
Yet somehow Justin Vernon found his way onto one of last year's most successful albums. Constructed throughout 2010, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' was a bold statement from Kanye West.
Searching for an artist to work with, the rapper was handed a copy for 'For Emma, Forever Ago'. Inviting Justin Vernon out to Hawaii, the resulting track 'Lost In The World' went on to become one of the highlights of West's album.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Justin Vernon was initially reluctant about flying out to Hawaii. "Can't you see if he wants to come here?" he recalls saying. "I don't know why I said that. It was kind of dickish."
After a snowstorm grounded Kanye West's flight, Vernon finally caved in and flew out to Hawaii where he was immediately wining and dining with the powerful figures at the rapper's mansion.
"I think he liked that I had a similar emotional approach to music. And that I used Auto-Tune as a kind of texture. It made sense."
The resulting track uses a melody from Bon Iver's 'Woods'. 12 months later and the sample shows no signs of going away, with Numbers mainstay Deadboy recently focussing a new track on the vocal hook.
Meanwhile, Bon Iver are toasting the release of their second album. The band are planning to return to Britain later this year, after confirming details of a full scale tour beginning in October.
Opening in Manchester on October 19th, the tour continues with shows in Edinburgh, London, Birmingham, Leeds and more. Finishing in Bristol on November 11th, tickets are on sale now.
Bon Iver are set to play the following shows:
October
19 Manchester O2 Apollo
22 Edinburgh Usher Hall
24 London HMV Hammersmith Apollo
November
9 Leeds O2 Academy
11 Bristol Colston Hall
