Julian Casablancas Christmas Single
Strokes singer plans release
Strokes singer Julian Casablancas has revealed that he is planning to release a special Christmas single.
Ah, Christmas! A time for giving, sharing and buying novelty jingles. From Slade to The Pogues it seems the soundtrack for each Yuletide season is set months in advance, with no escaping Noddy Holder's festive scream.
Well this year could be different. Strokes singer Julian Casablancas has just released his new solo album 'Phrazes For The Young' but in a new interview the frontman has revealed that he is planning to release a new festive single.
The Strokes singer is preparing to release a new cover of 'I Wish It Was Christmas Today' a song which first appeared on the American comedy show 'Saturday Night Live'.
A staple of the American advent season, Julian Casablancas now intends to give the song a street-wise makeover.
"It was a fun thing to do" he told the NME.
"Everyone seems to do a Christmas song at some point, so I always said to myself I'd do that song".
"I now checked that off the list of things to do!"
Julian Casablancas is set to release his new Christmas single as a download and on seven inch vinyl on December 21st. Of course, the Strokes star isn't the only indie icon to celebrate Christmas this year.
As previously reported twee poppers Slow Club are preparing to release a new festive EP, while as ever The Killers will celebrate December 25th with a very special download.
