Swedish songwriter Jose Gonzalez is preparing to release a new album with his side project Junip.

A word of mouth success story, Jose Gonzalez reached global recognition with his album 'Veneer'. Reached the British Top Ten album was followed by 'In Our Nature' before the singer decided to take a break.

Since then, there has been little activity to speak of. Working on new material, it seems that Jose Gonzalez has decided to leave his solo work alone for the time being.

Re-uniting with a series of close friends, Jose Gonzalez is set to front the group Junip. Initially formed in 2000, the Gothenburg based outfit self-released their 'Black Refuge' EP back in 2006.

Since then, the band have periodically reformed for the odd live show. However with news breaking of their debut album it seems as if Junip - for the time being at least - are set to become a serious proposition.

Preparing an EP and a full length album, Junip are set to hit the road with a North American tour set to begin later in Spring. The Swedish group have decided to give fans a sneak preview of their latest batch of material, with album track 'Rose And Summit' streaming on their official website.

With Gonzalez' unmistakable voice on top, Junip add layers of organs, analogue synths and drums. The often whispered incantations are influenced by Kraftwerk groups such as Neu! as well as wyrd folk stars like the late John Martyn.

Junip are set to release their new album later this year.
