Jon Hopkins / King Creosote Single Due
'Bubble' to be released on May 30th
King Creosote and Jon Hopkins are to release their new single 'Bubble' on May 30th.
Fife seems to exist in another dimension, one where time seeps by a lot slower than everyday life. The Scottish region has housed numerous mavericks over the years, none more creative than the Fence Collective.
Led by King Creosote, the genial Fife royal recently teamed up with electronic producer Jon Hopkins for a new project. 'Diamond Mine' only took a few weeks to complete, but was years in planning.
First introduced to each other back in 2005, the pair would collaborate via email. Agreeing to sit down and work on material, what emerged was - according to King Creosote - a ‘soundtrack to a romanticised version of a life lived in a Scottish coastal village’.
'Diamond Mine' is designed to be listened to as one complete statement, lasting just over 30 minutes. A remarkably complete document, the album has left an enduring impression on everything in its path.
Taken from the album, new single 'Bubble' is a perfect introduction to King Creosote and Jon Hopkins. The pair unite on a soothing track, with the Fife singer's voice buoyed by an evocative arrangement.
Due to be released on May 30th, the single comes as King Creosote and Jon Hopkins begin to plot a series of concerts.
The pair are set to unite for a one off show in London's Union Chapel next month. Taking place on May 25th, the two musicians will be joined by guests from the album sessions to re-create 'Diamond Mine'.
No doubt throwing in a few surprises, King Creosote and Jon Hopkins are plotting a few more shows scattered around the country.
King Creosote and Jon Hopkins are due to play the following show:
