Bristol don set to appear...
Bristol producer Joker is set to appear at FWD's upcoming 11th birthday party.
Amid the swirling, ever expanding maelstrom which is UK bass FWD stands out as a focal point, as a landmark to judge others by.
Remaining at the forefront, FWD is set to toast its 11th birthday with a very special party. Following last year's extravaganza, the night is set to once more up the ante with a vital line up of new producers and DJs.
Taking place on August 18th at a secret warehouse somewhere in East London, the exact details of the bill are being kept firmly under wraps. What we do know, though, is that the line up will reflect the 2001 - 2012 time period, with each DJ representing a year from the club's history.
ClashMusic have been able to smuggle out one name from the line up: Joker is set to appear at the warehouse party, representing the year 2010.
Hailing from Bristol, Joker's sloping, funky take on bass culture placed him at the forefront of what was quickly dubbed the Purple Sound. Difficult to pin down, the producer's hip hop roots often show through, penetrating his bass squelches with a low-slung confidence that is difficult to deny.
Set to play a special set to showcase sounds from 2010, Joker joins a line up that bristles with promise. Ticket link.
Elsewhere, Rinse have also confirmed plans for a one off event earlier in the evening. The station are taking over the Tate Modern Tanks as part of their young people’s Undercurrent Festival, part of the Tanks: Art in Action Series.
Tickets for Undercurrent are free, but booking is required.
