Following years of speculation that the band may at some point reunite, Smiths guitar hero Johnny Marr has confirmed he will not be reforming the Smiths, as he plans to spend time recording an album with Leeds indie trio The Cribs.

The guitarist, who joined forces with the Jarman brothers after a chance meeting with bassist Gary in Portland, declared: "The stories circulating about a Smiths reunion are, as usual, untrue." I'm currently very excited about writing and recording with The Cribs for a new album to be released next summer, and we're playing shows in February, so going back in time isn't in my plans," he said.

Marr, now considered to be a full time member of The Cribs, will join the band on the following dates, get tickets below.
